It’s the winter of 2015. Disney’s mega-hit Frozen has invaded Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. Although most of the changes are temporary, it’s as if the Disneyland Resort has become the Frozenland Resort. But it’s just Frozen Fun. |

One of the features of Frozen Fun is Freeze the Night! A Family Dance Party. Here’s how the Disney Parks Blog describes it: Each evening, you’re invited to “chill out” in Hollywood Land with music, dancing, interactive fun and more in this new, family-friendly experience. You’ll arrive at the party through an icy archway to find wintry décor, dazzling lighting effects, cool photo spots, yummy treats and frosty beverages for all ages. Throughout the night, a giant thermometer registers the drop in temperature, as things get so cool they ultimately reach the freezing point when everyone lets it go in a spectacular “Frozen Fun” crescendo! The concept and setup—huge video displays, a DJ, dancers, specialty acts, kids’ activities, and adult beverages—might be familiar if you experienced ElecTRONica and Mad T Party. This time, it appears that Elsa has used her powers to freeze a corner of the park. |

Freeze the Night! will only be around in the winter. It just wouldn’t work in summer with the guests wearing shorts and the performers dying in their winter garb. |

Freeze the Night! ran from January 7, 2015, to April 30, 2015, at Disney California Adventure. It was part of the Disneyland Resort’s Frozen Fun promotion, which also included Olaf’s Snow Fest, “Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome” in the Disney Animation building, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in the former Muppet*Vision 3D theater, and Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post in the free-standing building that had originally been Rizzo’s Prop & Pawn Shop. Freeze the Night! followed three other nighttime parties in Hollywood Land (originally Hollywood Pictures Backlot)—Glow Fest (2010), ElecTRONica (2010—2012), and Mad T Party (2012–2014). Each offered music, variety entertainment, dancing, and alcohol, but each had its own theme and personality. After Freeze the Night! closed, Mad T Party got a reboot (2012–2014), though in a pared down edition. Surprisingly, when that Mad T Party closed, it marked the end of nighttime entertainment events in Hollywood Land. |
